kittens!!
guess what i did this weekend: um, only got TWO KITTENS! omg. they are both three months old, and they are the cutest ever. we (me & my sister) had planned to get just one, but we had to get two 'cause the shelter only gives out kittens under four months if you have another cat for them to be friends with. and two is really better, anyway.
they are both boys. they aren't brothers, but they were roommates at the shelter, so they are already friends. they don't have names yet. let me know if you have any ideas!
they are super tiny.
the black one is very shy,
and a little funny looking, with gigantic alien/saucer eyes. (although who am i to judge?)
the orange one is the cutest most perfect archetype of a kitten i've ever seen, and very outgoing. he's definitely the boss. (but the black one is starting to liven up a little as he gets more used to living here.)
after a busy afternoon of playing and posing for the camera, the orange one just curled up on the couch and took a nap:
sigh. i am such a proud mama.

I second Seth and Ryan. Also like Cavaleir and Clay; Sandy and Peter; Bundy and Lucinda; Barack and Gore; Ilona Jr and your sister's name Jr (I know how you narcissit's role).
They are adorable no matter what their names, don't be too mean to the ugly one- it could end up being cute later in life. I am glad my awesome recommendation worked.

Hey, ilona. Want to make your cats go nuts with happiness? No guarantee, but my cat used to.
When I was a kid, I'd go fishing, mostly just down the end of my street and through the woods. When I got home I'd clean my catch, but I'd always take a couple of freshly caught filets and run them through a meat grinder for my cat, raw. Most really fresh fish doesn't have much of a smell, but my cat could smell it when I was grinding it. It would make her nuttier than catnip did. She'd run around the kitchen, bouncing off of everything. She'd come over and claw at my leg, yeowling at me to hurry up, and she was normally a quiet, casual cat. I'd be crying from the pain and laughing at her insanity.
Man, was she a happy cat whenever she got fresh, fresh, fresh, ground up, raw fish.

the raw fish & the meat grinder idea sounds kind of gross. you can also just empty the fishy water from a can of tuna into a bowl and the kittens will go crazy ... although every subsequent time you ever open a can (of soup, beans, or whoop-ass), they will come running.

* "Hotdog soup" is when your dad boils himself a couple of hotdogs and gives you the water he boiled them in. "Here ya go, kids. Hotdog soup."
