botany

i spent this afternoon at the brooklyn botanic garden, admiring the cherry blossoms and many other lovely specimens. there were so many delicious-smelling flowers, from lilacs to hyacinths to many more i don't know the names of. (i wish my dad could have been there to tell us what everything was. he knows everything about plants.)

me & my friends claimed a spot under the cherry trees and took our shoes and socks off. using coats as improvised blankets, we lay down, part on fabric and part directly on the grass and dirt below it. i put my face on the grass, using my hands under my cheek as a pillow. i haven't been that close to the ground in a very long time.

follow-up: the next day (today) i bought four bunches of lilacs at a flower shop. now my house smells as nice as the garden!

    Ilona:

Beta manlet is in a pretty deep depression, could you either:

    (1) love me forever

    (2) take more pictures of pretty flowers?

    Signed,

    Beta Manlet

PS: I would prefer #1, but I'm also very in touch with how the world works. Lilacs are my favorite flower. My parents had a lilac tree/bush in our backyard and I would always go out to smell it when it was in bloom. I wonder if you like Jasmine. I try to keep Jasmine plants, but I always manage to kill them.

When the lilacs fade, you'll have to replace them with Lilies-of-the-Valley. Mine are coming in really thick this year, and they're coming in everywhere and beginning to flower. Soon my yard will be full of the sweet fragrance of Lilies-of-the-Valley.

    JELLUS?

    It's me again.

The lilacs haven't faded, but the Lilies-of-the-Valley have come in so thick that I'm sitting in my second-floor bedroom, and the scent of LotV is wafting in.

    JELLUS?
