oscar mayer hard salami

makes a good substitute to satisfy those salt cravings when bacon is unavailable.

Oscar Mayer Hard Salami

i bought it last night after wandering the city streets for hours looking for a grocery store that was open past nine. you'd think in the city that never sleeps, the grocery stores wouldn't either. in every other city in this country there are 24-hour safeways, but not around here. thank goodness for food emporium (open til midnight!).

where the fuck do you live/shop? there are tons of 24 hour places... there's the key foods on ave a and 4th or something, there's the food emporium on 14th st and 4th ave, and there are TONS of bodegas which are 24 hours AND have excellent selection.

whoa, looks like you've angered the NYC GROCERY MAFIA, ilona. that person must be referring to rich people markets. the grocery stores in my neighborhood close at sundown. i disagree with the whole "excellent selection" part. unless bodega defender meant excellent selection of dusty cans and jars of clinton era food. --acc

i think there's a 24-hour bodega (new york for "convenience store"), deli, and diner on every street corner on the isle of Mad'hattan.

if you don't know where the awesome 24 hour bodegas are i'm certainly not going to tell. i can think of 3 amazing ones scattered in very different neighborhoods in brooklyn alone - not manhattan, brooklyn.

You should try unsliced gallo salami though you shouldn't eat too much of it. Salami has a lot of sodium. The unsliced has always tasted much better to me than the sliced salami.

I know this "salami" is old. But you've never heard of fried salami?! It is so delish. with mustard and/or relish. Try fried bologna as well. seriously.
