yoga & broadway
yesterday i officially joined the gym! and i went to my first yoga class there, with a friend from work. the class was pretty good. not as spiritually therapeutic as the class i used to go to in berkeley, but a good workout and the right level of difficulty for me.
afterwards, i was like, "so, what are you doing now?" and she was like, "i was gonna go look at the half-price ticket booth and maybe get a ticket to see a musical tonight." and i was like, "i like musicals..." so we got tickets to Company!
neither of us was sure what it was going to be about. my first guess was, like, a corporation, and hers was a ballet company. but we were both wrong. it's about relationships, marriage, & friendships. get it? like, "two's company". some of the humor was maybe a little over our heads - most of the characters were middle-aged and married and debating the pros and cons of marriage. but the music was gorgeous. i really like stephen sondheim.
it was really good. there seemed to be no separate orchestra, and instead the actors played the instruments themselves on stage, in between singing, or while other people were singing. it worked - it was like a unique kind of choreography. and super impressive that they all had the skills to pull it off.
not that i was in doubt, but it made me feel more certain than ever that i want to marry my sweetie. i wish he didn't live so far away and we could just get married right now. i'm very lonely without him.

Because I am also in a LTR, I am also rather tortured. I constantly imagine her banging someone else. Then I remind myself that marriage is probably crap and I'm a whiny biznatch to be crying over this.

Ilona: What's your view on Germany releasing a multiple murderer after serving only 24 years of 5 life sentences? A member of a terrorist organization that causes mass chaos in germany, leading to many laws that restricted civil liberties because they were terrorizing people so badly.

Jesus, you get convinced to get married because of something you watched? do you go out and buy the latest clothes because some actress wore it or a magazine told you to do so? Damn, recipe for divorce in the making.

um, i already SAID that it didn't change how i felt - remember? "not that i was in doubt..." and anyway the point of the play was definitely not pro-marriage. nonetheless, spending a few hours thinking about marriage and love inspired additional reflection on how much i love my sweetie, and how much i (already) want to marry him.
and yes i would buy cute clothes that i saw in a magazine. who wouldn't?
p.s. why are you so negative? maybe YOU should try yoga.

Why do people want to be married any more these days, especially men? There's a 50% divorce rate, the other 50% aren't all happy.. Just seems that when women start getting into debt, they get married. Coincidence? Ilona, what do you have to offer Pud? Why should he marry you given he can get lots of chicks.
