shoe heel
this morning on my way to work i noticed that the heel had come almost entirely off one of my boots. (that's what happens when i wear the same boots 4x a week for two years, and also go hiking in them. (they are not hiking boots by any means.) i'm surprised they haven't fallen apart sooner.) i managed to stick it back on, but who knows how long it'll hold. i think i'll be spending the day stamping it into place.
mental note: it would be helpful to keep an extra pair of shoes at work for occasions like this. it's tough to get a shoe repaired while the shoe is on a foot.

Back in college days we would keep tennis shoes in lockers to wear inside, leaving awkward boots outside.
But that was in Pittsburgh, not Cali.
Anyway office dress codes vary. :)

that's a good suggestion. the problem is that, for a vain girly girl such as myself, no single backup pair of shoes could possibly work with every outfit in case of a future shoe-heel emergency. also if there were a pair of shoes i liked i wouldn't want to keep 'em at the office -- i would want to wear 'em.
nonetheless, it probably makes sense to make some kind of provision for a shoe emergency. it's probably worth the embarassment of wearing ugly shoes for a day.
